Charles W. Megules
A product of the Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One, Charles was born three years after the group's creation. He grew up attending virtually every one of their performances with his family. His love of music is attributed to the fine performances exhibited by its past members, and to his parents Karl I. and Natalie C. Megules for making it all possible. He would also like to thank his five siblings, Alicia; Mary; Celeste; Karl D.; and Natalie E. for sharing the journey of life, and values their outstanding musicianship that was commonplace in our household. Last, but not least, I want to thank my lovely wife, Amy. She has inspired me to grow, both as an artist and a human-being, through her love of dance and her constant love and support throughout the good times and bad times. It is through Amy's encouragement that Charles's confidence bolstered a return to college. Charles has earned a BA degree in Music Education (trumpet performance), from William Paterson University located in Wayne, NJ and a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, OH.
With a solid schema for live music in place, Charles began studying the trumpet at the age of five with his father and mentor. His first taste of performance occurred with his entire family during Christmas and Easter ceremonies; a tradition they keep to this day. In addition, all of the children attended the summer music program and the high school concerts, taught by our father in Bordentown, NJ. The trumpet players in the TBQ+1 always served to raise the bar in his pursuit of performance excellence, and his solo debut with the brass quintet was an elementary solo arranged by his father when he was eight years old. "I remember shaking so badly, that I could hardly play! After all, I idolized all of the musicians in the group."
